The Divine Rose

This painting depicting a bright and colourful rose was painted for the exhibition, ‘Blooming Lovely’ in Gravesend’s St. George’s Arts Centre. The painting was based on a flower in the gardens of Aylesford Priory. The name, ‘The Divine Rose’ was given to the painting a week after its completion. I looked over numerous adjectives for the painting and settled on the word, divine. Some months later, the title of the piece could also refer to our Lord Jesus Christ symbolising him as the Divine Rose.
